Temple Of Joy
A colourful ode to Sydney's dancefloors, wrapped 360° around the walls of Vivid House.
The brief
Artist Elliott Routledge, aka Funskull, approached us to bring his artwork even more to life for Vivid Sydney. Temple Of Joy was one of three works shown in Vivid House at Darling Harbour, a 360° LED space billed as the most immersive installation the festival had staged.
The idea
A homage to Sydney’s dance party scene: a shrine to the dancefloors shut down over the previous few years, and a hopeful toast to their return.
The craft
A 15-minute looping piece, built for a room with no edges.
We worked closely with Elliott, his brother and art director Marty, and his brother and composer Nick, aka Nicky Nighttime, to create a fully immersive experience, finished with a final audio polish and 3D mix from the one and only Sameer Sengupta.
The outcome
So many legends in one room. Thank you, everyone, it was a great ride.
